Children learn their beliefs, values, capabilities, knowledge and skills from their families, communities and culture. Culture plays an important role in socialization and development of children. Cultural background holds a significant place in children’s social and emotional development, as well as improvement of their motor and cognitive skills. Traditions, cultural values, attitudes and behaviours help in children’s rearing in the society and relays the family structure from generation to generation.
The project works towards changes at family level regarding breastfeeding, nutrition, responsive caregiving, positive parenting and healthy development of children. It also envisages changes in household resilience. At community level, the Rise and Shine project aims at positive changes in parenting choices and in social attitudes towards children and childhood.
